The Latin word for growth is incrementum. I love that. Mental health and wellness are all about growth and growth are sometimes painstakingly slow. As a counselor, I've learned firsthand that change is a process. It's not linear. One day you go from being 10 months sober to 10 hours sober.
I've grown so much just from learning the theoretical practices and interventions of clinical mental health counseling. I believe that, if these practices made their way to the mainstream, society as a whole would be better. We'd be happier.
So that's my hope; that I can take the things I learn from my education and mostly my own clients and translate them into daily practical applications. So we can grow. Incrementally.
Hi! I’m Edliz Vazquez, but most people call me Edi (like Ed, Edd, and Eddy). I’m a practicing clinical mental health counselor licensed in the states of Florida and Georgia. I’m also a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Board Certified Telemental Health Provider.
I decided to start this website when I noticed how much difficulty I have controlling word vomit around the subject of counseling and the techniques I use for myself and my clients.
I graduated from Wake Forest University in December 2016 with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Currently, I'm seeing and accepting new clients at my practice, Incremental Care. I also designed a digital therapy journal to help support people in their therapeutic journey.
My specialties include working with adolescents, young adults, and couples who experience anxiety, depression, variations in mood, and relationship challenges. I like working with young adults who are in transition and figuring out their next steps. I also speak fluent Spanish. My approach to therapy includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which means I like to help a client look at their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. I also empathize with my clients and connect with their experiences. I use a humanistic approach, which means no judgment. Every experience is a learning experience. Overall, I’m extremely passionate about making what's effective in therapy accessible to everyone.
When I’m not writing or serving my clients, I’m taking in the beautiful Florida weather either at a theme park, on a walk with my dog, Buffy, or at a delicious restaurant with loved ones.
